Warner Brothers Releases Batman: Gotham Knight Images (Updated)

Japanese anime studios Production I.G, Studio 4°C, Madhouse involved

Animation Magazine has posted a set of images from the upcoming Batman: Gotham Knight anthology video. The six-episode series will be released on DVD, Blu-ray Disc, pay-per-view, video-on-demand, and the web all on the same day, July 8.

The six interlocking episodes, which take place between the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight movies, are being animated by Studio 4°C (The Animatrix, Genius Party), Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell, Blood: The Last Vampire), and Madhouse (X movie, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust). All three studios also worked with Warner Brothers on another trans-Pacific collection of animated shorts with a Hollywood movie tie-in: The Animatrix. Directors Shōjirō Nishimi, Futoshi Higashide, Hiroshi Morioka, Yasuhiro Aoki and Toshiyuki Kubooka will helm the episodes under series director Bruce Timm.

Update: The Justice League: The New Frontier video movie, which Warner Home Video released on February 26, includes a short feature on the making of Batman: Gotham Knight. The feature has interviews with the writers and producers, some animated footage, and a discussion of how the creators chose which villains to include in the anthology. Thanks, Emerje.
