Kanokon No Longer Streamed for Free in Japan

Two Japanese video-streaming sites, GyaO and BIGLOBE, announced on Wednesday that they will no longer stream the Kanokon anime series for free in Japan. GyaO stated it will not stream the series from episode 7 onward, while BIGLOBE and Bandai Channel will only offer the anime as a paid service from episode 7 onward. (BIGLOBE charges 105 yen, or about US$1.00, for a one-week "rental" period per episode.) The television release still continues on the paid-subcription AT-X anime channel, and six-volume DVD release will still start shipping in Japan on June 25. The anime adapts Katsumi Nishino's light novel series about a high school boy's encounters with fox-girl, a wolf-girl, and other unusual members of his new school. The North American publisher Seven Seas Entertainment had announced in September of 2006 that it is translating the original light novel series into English.
