Washington School is Calm 3 Weeks After "Death Note"

posted on by Egan Loo
The Peninsula Gateway newspaper reports that Kopachuck Middle School in Gig Harbor, Washington is almost completely back to normal after four students were disciplined three weeks ago over the discovery of their "Death Note" notebook. In the Death Note suspense manga, live-action films, and anime, a teenager finds a notebook with which he can put people to death by writing their names. Peninsula School District Superintendent Terry Bouck and Kopachuck Middle School Principal Dave Colombini both say that things are back to normal after the incident. Shannon Anderson, a mother of one of the students whose name was written in the book, says that her son was never concerned and that she herself "felt calmer" after talking with the school's administration. Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Ed Troyer added, “We don't believe there was ever any real criminal or any serious threat to anybody.” One of the students was reportedly expelled over the incident, but no criminal charges have been filed.
