Toronto Short Film Fest to Host Director Kei Oyama

The CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival is hosting director Kei Ōyama during the June 13 screening of Oyama's The Thaw film in Toronto. The 7:30 p.m. showing is part of the festival's Japanese Spotlight: Emerging Auteur Animators program. The program is also screening Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor from award-winning director Koji Yamamura. The Festival describes The Thaw: "With a blanched colour palette, photography is seamlessly incorporated with intricate pencil drawings to tell the tale of one boy's eerie encounter with death." Before this film, Oyama created the Consultation Room theatrical short.
Oyama joins Shinichiro Watanabe (Macross Plus, Cowboy Bebop, The Animatrix) at the festival. Watanabe is presenting the Canadian premiere of the Genius Party anthology films on June 12.
