Jump Sq. Manga Reports on Dragonball Film's Production

posted on by Egan Loo

The July issue (released on June 4) of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine includes a behind-the-scenes report — drawn in manga format — on Twentieth Century Fox's live-action Dragonball film. Akiba Zaijū is Jump Square's monthly column drawn by manga artist Daisuke Kadokuni. Kadokuni usually profiles a different aspect of Tokyo's Akihabara otaku shopping district every month, but took a press tour of Dragonball movie's production for his July issue installment.

Among other items, the manga depicts the movie sets for the Piccolo character's chamber and a dojo, a large outdoors set, the heroine Bulma's three-wheeled motorcycle, and one of the film's namesake Dragonballs. The manga's caricature of executive producer Tim Van Rellim notes that the film staff plans to add the signature stars inside the ball with computer graphics.
