Akikan! Romance Light Novels Get Manga in Ultra Jump

The Japanese publisher Shueisha has announced today that Momotaro Miyano will adapt Riku Ranjō and Hiro Suzuhira's Akikan! romantic comedy light novels as a manga series in Ultra Jump magazine this fall. Miyano has been drawing the manga version of Production I.G and Masamune Shirow's Real Drive (RD Sennō Chōsashitsu) anime in Kodansha's Monthly Magazine Z since April.
The official Japanese website for the anime adaptation has also launched with the staff and cast lists. Yuji Himaki (Bōken Yūki Pluster World, Lupin III: Dead or Alive) will direct the animators at Brains Base (Baccano!, Kamichu!) with character designs and animation supervision by Ryō Tanaka (Super Robot Wars Original Generation - The Animation, Virtua Fighter). Hideaki Koyasu (Minami-ke episodes, Sakura Taisen: New York NY.) is overseeing the scripts, and Takeshi Takadera (Buso Renkin, H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~) will be the sound director. Jun Fukuyama will play Kakeru, a high school boy who buys a can of melon juice soda that turns into a girl named Melon (Sayaka Narita). The other cast members include Aki Toyosaki, Mamiko Noto, Aoi Yūki, Aiko Ōkubo, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Ryōtarō Okiayu, and Megumi Toyoguchi.
