Utena Voice Actress Kawakami Recovering from Surgery

Tomoko Kawakami, the lead voice actress in La fillette révolutionaire Utena, Hikaru no Go, Sugar: A Little Snow Fairy, Air, and many other anime titles, has announced on her official email newsletter on Monday that her August 19 surgery ended without a hitch. She went into surgery the first thing that morning and is now resting and recuperating. She thanks all those who offered their support and prayers. While she says she still feels pain everyday, she thinks she will recover just fine. Since her online mail form is out of order right now, she asks that people who want to give her get-well messages to send them via letters and other "analog" means to her Production baobab agency.
Kawakami's newsletter and Utena director Kunihiko Ikuhara's official website revealed last week that Kawakami has been admitted to a hospital on August 16 for an unspecified illness.
