Real Manga's Inoue Interviews Real Paralympic Player (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo

The English-language Daily Yomiuri newspaper has translated an interview that Slam Dunk and Real manga creator Takehiko Inoue conducted with an actual Paralympic basketball player, Shingo Fujii. Fujii is the captain of Japan's wheelchair basketball team at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, which end this Wednesday. Inoue described how he became interested in wheelchair basketball after ending the Slam Dunk manga, and how the success of his wheelchair basketball manga, Real, surprised even himself. Fujii talked about how the element of wheels changes the dynamics of the game and how his eventful life led him to Beijing. Viz Media is publishing Real in North America.
