Toy maker reveals "Gigangelion Creation Project's" height with second prototype

Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The Japanese manufacturer Medicom Toy revealed that its ongoing Gigangelion Creation Project will result in a one-meter-tall (3-feet-tall) EVA-01 figure from the Evangelion anime. The announcement was made in the January issue of ASCII Media Works' Dengeki Hobby magazine, which shipped on November 25 and featured a photo spread from the project's second prototype. The figure, which is tentatively named just "1 Meter Evangelion," is a joint project of Mediccm Toy, Gainax, and Dengeki. Dengeki Hobby had revealed the project in August in its October issue, but did not reveal the figure's height at the time. Medicom Toy has not determined the figure's price or release date yet.

Only a few anime franchises have spawned mass-produced mecha figures that were one meter or taller. At the end of 2006, Bandai sold a 1/12-scale, 1.5-meter-tall Hyper Hybrid Model of a Gundam mobile suit for 258,000 yen (about US$2,700).
