Dogs Anime DVD Project to Be 2 Volumes Long (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo

The Hoshino Shoten Comic Stage store on the Rakuten retail website is listing the previously announced anime version of Shirow Miwa's Dogs manga as a two-volume project. The first anime volume will ship with the fourth volume of Dogs: Bullets & Carnage on May 19. This anime volume will be about 30 minutes long and will have a story about the Mihai character ("Weepy old killer") and a story about the Badō character ("Gun Smoker").

The second anime volume will also be about 30 minutes long and ship with the Dogs: Stray dog howling in the dark manga reissue on July 17. This limited manga reissue will take the original 2001 Dogs manga and include additional story material. The Hoshino Shoten bookstore lists the second anime volume with a "Weepy old killer" story about Naoto and a "Gun Smoker" story about Haine.

Viz Media announced at Comic-Con International last July that it is translating the manga for release in North America next April. Shueisha publishes the manga in Japan in Ultra Jump magazine.

Update: Although Hoshino Shoten lists different titles for Naoto and Haine's stories, "Blade Maiden" and "Stray dogs howling in the dark" were their original names in the manga version. Thanks, Dernhelm.
