Anime of Kami Imai's Needless Manga Reportedly Leaked

Supernatural action comedy with bishōjo in post-World War III Japan

The Moon Phase Comments diary reports that an unverified NetMile Research survey on consumer awareness and interest has leaked the news of an anime adaptation for Kami Imai's Needless manga. The action gag comedy with "bishōjo x violence" is set in 2130, when large swaths of Japan have been quarantined as polluted "Black Spots (BS)" in the aftermath of World War III. However, there are people who have settled behind the massive walls of the Black Spots, where they have developed mysterious powers. The city people on the outside have a label for the Black Spot people they have ostracized: "Needless."

The manga has been running in Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine since 2004, and eight volumes (and one prequel volume 0) have been compiled and published. According to Moon Phase Comments, Masayuki Sakoi (Kamen no Maid Guy, Princess Resurrection, Strawberry Panic!) will direct off scripts that will be supervised by Satoru Nishizono (Digimon Adventure, Naruto Shippūden, Welcome to the NHK). Hiromi KATO (Azumanga Daioh - The Very Short Movie, I'm Gonna Be An Angel, Kobato.) will reportedly design the characters. Moon Phase Comments indicates that there are plans to broadcast this anime on UHF stations in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.
