Former Gonzo Head Shouji Murahama Launches Lambda Film

posted on by Egan Loo
Gonzo founder starts company on Wednesday, one day after leaving Gonzo

Shouji Murahama, the founder and former president of the Gonzo anime studio, has confirmed on his personal blog that he left Gonzo on Tuesday and launched a new company called Lambda Film on Wednesday. Even after he left Gonzo, he asked his readers on Thursday to watch Shangri-La, Gonzo's newest science-fiction anime series which premieres on Japanese television on April 5. Murahama was a producer or executive producer for most of Gonzo's anime titles. Murahama will serve as the representative director for Lambda Film's board of directors.

Murahama had left Gainax, another anime studio, in 1992 to co-found Gonzo with anime director Mahiro Maeda (Blue Submarine No. 6, The Animatrix) and film director Shinji Higuchi (Doomsday: The Sinking of Japan director, Neon Genesis Evangelion scriptwriter). Wednesday was also the same day that Gonzo's parent company, GDH, absorbed Gonzo and adopted the Gonzo brand name for itself.
