Hana-Kimi Manga One-Shot to Ship This Month

Hisaya Nakajo to draw story about Nanba's successor in Hana to Yume mag

This year's ninth issue of Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine announced last week that Hisaya Nakajo will publish a one-shot Hana Zakari no Kimi-tachi e (Hana-Kimi) spinoff manga in the next issue on April 20. Nakajo will also draw an illustration for the cover. The original Hana-Kimi series followed a girl named Mizuki as she disguises herself to attend the same all-boys school as her idol. Several of the dorm residential advisors, including a boy named Minami Nanba, discover Mizuki's secret but vow to keep quiet. The new short story will deal with who will inherit Nanba's place in the Kaōkai (Cherry Blossom Alliance). The short story will mark the upcoming 35th anniversary of the magazine.

Viz Media finished publishing the 23 volumes of the original run last April, and launched Nakajo's next manga series, Sugar Princess - Skating to Win, last August. Nakajo has created three one-shot short stories for Hana-Kimi since the manga's main run in Japan from 1996 to 2004. Hana Zakari no Kimi-tachi e: Ikemen Paradise, a live-action television drama version of the manga, ran in Japan in 2007.
