Mamoru Oshii Interviewed on Musashi Anime Film

The Akibanana website has posted an English-language interview with Mamoru Oshii, the director of the Ghost in the Shell films and the story creator of the new film Musashi: The Dream of the Last Samurai. The film takes an "anime documentary" approach to portraying "the fact and fiction about the Niten Ichi-ryū of Musashi Miyamoto, the seeker of the way of the invincible sword." In the interview, Oshii explains how the film has foreign origins, why he chose to hand the directorial reins to his colleague Mizuho Nishikubo, and what he thinks of the film's central samurai figure. The film opened in Japan on June 13.
