Live-Action Blood Film Adds US$40,774 in 2nd Weekend

Cumulative total stands at US$192,005

The Box Office Mojo website reports that Chris Nahon's live-action film adaptation of Production I.G's Blood: The Last Vampire anime earned US$40,774 in its second weekend in the United States. With 19 theaters (including six new ones) screening it during the July 17-18 weekend, the Samuel Goldwyn Films release had an estimated per-screen average of US$2,146. The film earned US$110,029 during its opening weekend, and its 10-day cumulative total stands at US$192,005.

South Korea's Jeon Ji-hyun (under her English name, Gianna Jun) plays the main character Saya, a sword-wielding girl hunting down supernatural creatures near an American military base in Japan. Japanese actress Koyuki plays her opponent Onigen. Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor, Urusei Yatsura) conceived of the original anime film that Hiroyuki Kitakubo directed.
