Summer Wars, KyoAni, Gundam Win Digital Content Awards

The Digital Content Association of Japan (DCAJ) has announced that it will present awards to Mamoru Hosoda and Madhouse's Summer Wars film, the Kyoto Animation studio, the late animation talent Yoshinori Kanada (pictured below), the Toyama Tourism Anime Project, and Bandai's 18-meter-tall "life-size" RX-78-2 Gundam statue at the 24th Digital Content Grand Prix this month. Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry established this industry association, and the awards honor the year's achievements in new media at DCAJ's annual Digital Creators Convention. The awards ceremony will be held on October 24 at the Tokyo International Exchange Center.
The other winners include Geisha Tokyo Entertainment's ARis augmented-reality figure software, Square-Enix's Dragon Quest IX role-playing game, and Tetsuya Nakashima's live-action Paco and the Magical Book film. Hosoda's The Girl Who Leapt Through Time film had previously won an award during the 21st Digital Content Grand Prix three years ago.
