Shaman King's Takei, Blood's Terada Draw 1-Shot Manga (Updated)

Return of Jumbor Barutronica, Monkey King/Saiyukiden Daienou in Ultra Jump mag

The November issue of Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine has published one-shot manga stories by Shaman King and Ultimo creator Hiroyuki Takei and Blood character designer Katsuya Terada on Monday. Takei's "Jumbor" represents the return of his Jumbor Barutronica (Jūki Ningen Jumbor) storyline, the 2007 fantasy adventure about a construction warrior who was reborn in a five-year-old clone to restore the lost country of Dovork. Takei has also contributed a mini color pin-up poster to the magazine. Viz Media publishes both Shaman King and Ultimo in North America.

Terada has drawn a special side story to his Monkey King (Saiyukiden Daienou) manga. In addition to the eight-page, full-color manga, the magazine also confirmed that there will be a second compiled volume for the manga. Dark Horse Comics published the first volume in 2005. The manga is one of the newer retellings of Monkey King (Saiyuki or Journey to the West), the Chinese literary classic that also inspired Dragon Ball, Saiyuki, Monkey Magic, and many other manga and anime.

The two one-shot manga are the fourth and fifth stories marking the 10th anniversary of Ultra Jump magazine this year. Sore de mo Machi wa Mawatteiru creator Masakazu Ishiguro will ship the sixth one-shot manga, "Justice Just," in the December issue on November 19. The December issue will also bundle a special DVD for the Needless anime with a video digest and interviews with the voice cast.
