Comedian Yoshiyuki Hirai creates series about 56-year-old baby

Comedian Yoshiyuki Hirai of the America Zarigani duo is launching a Flash anime series called Aka-chan (56) on NTT Docomo's BeeTV mobile phone video service on Tuesday. The comedy follows Tamotsu, a baby who was born with the mind of a 56-year-old man. Hirai conceived, composed, and designed the anime himself, and he is also part of the voice cast along with fellow comedians Yasuda Dai Circus and Maeda Maeda. The 36 episodes will be posted on BeeTV three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Hirai is well-known for being an anime fan and has previously voice-acted in the Arashi no Yoru ni, Natsume Yūjin-Chō, and several other anime titles. He and his America Zarigani partner are two of the hosts on Saki-yomi Jum-Bang!, the weekly television talk show devoted to Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and related properties.
