Funimation Opens Rin Site, Announces 2nd Online Panel

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

The official blog of the North American anime distributor Funimation announced on Thursday that the new official website for the RIN - Daughters of Mnemosyne anime is now open and is streaming an uncut trailer. (You must be 18 to access the website.)

Funimation will release the entire six-episode video series on January 19. The series was released in Japan in 2008.

Director Shigeru Ueda (Elemental Gelade, Tales of Symphonia), screenwriter Hiroshi Ohnogi (Noein, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Aquarion), and the animators at Xebec (Martian Successor Nadesico, Fafner, Heroic Age) created this graphic, "hard-boiled science-fiction action" series. The story follows a seemingly ordinary office lady named Rin who is secretly a private investigator — and nearly indestructible due to supernatural powers.

The Funimation blog also announced on Friday that they will host another online panel. The FUNiCon 2.0 online panel will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. CST on Thursday, December 17. Adam Sheehan and Justin Rojas will once again host the panel, along with guests Mike McFarland (ADR Director of Evangelion 1.11 and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) and J. Micheal Tatum (Spice and Wolf's Lawrence, ADR Director of RIN - Daughters of Mnemosyne). Questions for the panel must be submitted ahead of time, and Funimation will accept e-mail questions until 5:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday, December 16.

Funimation hosted their first online panel in October. The first panel is available for viewing on Funimation's YouTube channel.

The manga publisher Tokyopop started hosting a similar series of "webinars" in August.
