Titanic/Avatar director cautions that he is unsure he is doing film "at this point"

Oscar-winning director James Cameron (Titanic, Terminator, Aliens) spoke with MTV News and MarketSaw regarding the proposed 3D film adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita/GUNNM manga during press interviews for this week's Avatar opening. Cameron confirmed that the Battle Angel project has "a very good script and we've done a lot of production design. We've done about a year of production design and we've put together an art reel that shows the arc of the film." He added that Battle Angel will benefit from the hybrid 3D live-action/CG techniques pioneered by Avatar.

However, no casting has been made, and Cameron cautions, "I am not even sure that I want to do this film at this point. I might. I still like it. But, it seems like every time I do a movie, it changes my perception of what I want to do next. So we have to see."

Cameron has previously said that he has other projects that may be produced before Battle Angel, and that he does not have a specific timeframe for Battle Angel. The Battle Angel film project has been in development since at least 2006.

Viz Media published the Battle Angel Alita manga in North America, while ADV Films released the anime version.
