MangaGamer to Leave Higurashi, Soul Link Uncensored

The game publisher MangaGamer announced on Friday that it would leave its Higurashi: When They Cry and Soul Link games releases uncensored "after a lengthy and heated discussion." On one hand, the company was concerned about getting its staff and customers in a legal morass in light of recent controversies in Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. On the other hand, the company says it is responding to fan feedback and cited the freedom of speech and the mature gaming audience's ability to make its own decisions.
