Halo anthology to launch on February 16; ninja comedy show on January 13

Warner Brothers has posted a 44-second QuickTime movie clip from "The Package," one of the eight episodes in the Japanese-animated Halo Legends anthology. Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed, Viper's Creed) directed "The Package" at Casio Entertainment off a script by Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop). The video is also available as a Windows Media file.

The anime studios BONES, Casio Entertainment, Production I.G, Studio 4°C, and Toei Animation are producing these side stories about the war between humans and the alien Covenant. The staff includes creative supervisors Aramaki and Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell); directors Aramaki, Hideki Futamura (The Animatrix), Daisuke Nishio (Dragon Ball Z), Hiroshi Yamazaki (Karas), Toshiyuki Kanno (Black Lagoon), Kōichi Mashimo (Blade of the Immortal) and Kōji Sawai (Patlabor); and directors/action designers Tomoki Kyoda (Eureka Seven, Evangelion 1.0) and Yasushi Muraki (Macross Plus, Vampire Hunter D). Seraphim Studios, the company formed from the assets of A.D. Vision's Amusement Park Media dubbing outfit, is producing the English-language soundtrack. Warner Home Video will ship the North American DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases on February 16, 2010.

The official website for the stage musical version of Soubee Amako's Nintama Rantarou ninja comedy manga and anime has begun streaming a promotional movie. The story follows three first-grade ninja apprentices on a series of misadventures. The musical raises its curtain for the first time in Tokyo on January 13, and will run until January 24.
