Druaga MMORPG's New Opening Anime by Gonzo Posted

158-second video depicts aftermath of Druaga's defeat in fantasy franchise

The Gpara.com website is streaming the new 158-second opening animation video that the Gonzo anime studio produced for The Tower of Druaga –The Recovery of BABYLIM– fantasy massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG). The staff of the downsized anime studio Gonzo reassembled just for this video.

The opening movie tells a short story with Gil and Ki, two characters who have appeared in The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk television anime series and most incarnations of Namco's original Druaga game franchise since 1984. After the evil god Druaga is defeated, Gil, Ki, and the other adventurers from the land of Babylim face the mysterious restoration of the Tower of Druaga. The animators of The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk and its The Tower of Druaga: the Sword of Uruk television sequel worked on the newly animated shots in the opening movie. Hitoshi Sakimoto, the composer of Final Fantasy XII and Romeo × Juliet, returns to score the opening after working on the two Druaga television anime.

The Gonzo Rosso game company maintains The Tower of Druaga –The Recovery of BABYLIM– game, although the Gonzo anime studio is no longer affiliated with Gonzo Rosso. GDH, the former parent companies of both Gonzo and Gonzo Rosso, had decided to divested itself of Gonzo Rosso last March. Atlus, the game subsidiary of Index Holdings, then announced in October that it would acquire 54.6% of Gonzo Rosso for 460 milllion yen (about US$5.1 million). Gonzo also animated last year's promotional movie for Gonzo Rosso's Arcadia Saga online role-playing game.
