Yoshihiro Tatsumi Nominated for Eisner Hall of Fame

The 2010 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards panel of judges has announced its nominees for 2010 for the Eisner Hall of Fame. Alternative manga pioneer Yoshihiro Tatsumi (A Drifting Life, Good-Bye) is among the 13 nominees, and is the only manga creator nominated. Industry professionals have until March 31 to vote online — after which, four of the 13 nominees will be chosen to be entered into the Hall of Fame.
In December, The School Library Journal named Tatsumi's 856-page autobiographical manga A Drifting Life as one of the Best Adult Books for High School Students for 2009. A Drifting Life also won the 13th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Grand Prize award in 2009.
Tatsumi's Good-bye manga was nominated in 2009 for an Eisner award, but did not win. Tatsumi's Abandon the Old in Tokyo manga was also nominated in 2007 for an Eisner Award, but did not win. Abandon the Old in Tokyo did win a Harvey Award for Best American Edition of Foreign Material in 2007.
The Eisner Awards ceremony will be held on July 23 in San Diego.
Drawn and Quarterly has released Tatsumi's A Drifting Life, The Push Man and Other Stories, Good-bye and Abandon the Old in Tokyo in English, and will release Black Blizzard in Spring 2010.
