A Distant Neighborhood, Wonderful World Trailers Posted

The German website for the European live-action adaptation of Jiro Taniguchi's Eisner-nominated manga Harukana Machi e (A Distant Neighborhood) is streaming a two-minute trailer for the film.
The original manga deals with a 48-year-old salaryman who returns to the town he grew up in, and is transported back in time to his youth. Fanfare and Ponent Mon published the manga in the United States. The setting of the manga is Kurayoshi, a town in Tottori prefecture that is about five hours from Tokyo by train, but the film is set in 1968 Paris. (The film is a production of Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and Germany.) Sam Garbarski, whose 2007 film Irina Palm was nominated for the grand prize at the Berlin International Film Festival, directed the movie. The film, titled Quartier Lointain in French and Vertraute Fremde (Familiar Strangers) in German, has already been shown at the Cannes Film Festival, and will open in Germany on May 20.
The YouTube website is currently hosting a 148-second official trailer for voice actor Daisuke Namikawa's directorial debut film, Wonderful World. Mamoru Miyano stars with fellow voice actors Yuka Hirata, Showtaro Morikubo, Tomokazu Sugita, Yuko Kaida, Tsuyoshi Koyama, Tomokazu Seki, Miki Nagasawa, Saiga Mitsuki, Anri Katsu, Fuyuka Oura, Yurie Kobori, Rikiya Koyama, Keiji Fujiwara, Kouichi Yamadera, Kenji Utsumi, and Namikawa himself. Fashion model and actress Ayumi Uehara plays the main female role alongside Miyano. (Japanese entertainment figures Hiroshi, Yumehito of the visual-kei band Ayabie, and Kajita Mafia also star.)
The film's story poses the possibility that all of humanity, without exception, live in two worlds of existence: the real world and a second world known as "Hem." Humans live their lives in Hem when they sleep in the real world. Hidden in each person is another life of which he or she has no recollection of, except for nightmares which are soon forgotten upon waking up. However, there a few rare individuals who are aware of the existence of Hem and the curious consequences it has on the real world.
The film will open in Japan on June 19, after a special June 12 event.
