Japan's Animation Blu-ray Disc Ranking, April 5-11

Gundam UC sells 78,000; R.O.D., Katanagatari, Ballad, Kaiji, Koihime in top 10

Four weeks after debuting on March 12, the first volume of the Mobile Suit Gundam UC anime series still sold 9,000 Blu-ray Discs to return to #1. As of April 11, the Oricon survey firm reports that this volume sold a total of 78,000 copies.

The special collector's edition of Takashi Yamazaki's live-action Ballad: Namonaki Koi no Uta period drama film debuted at #5, while the regular edition debuted at #6. Tsuyoshi Kusanagi of the SMAP entertainment group starred in this historical romance based loosely on the plot of the award-winning Crayon Shin-chan: Arashi wo Yobu Appare! Sengoku Daikassen film. The live-action film adaptation of Nobuyuki Fukumoto's Kaiji gambling action manga landed right below at #7.
