Evangelion Race Car Team Debuts with Plug Suit Cosplay (Updated)

Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The official website of the Evangelion anime franchise has posted images from the first day of racing for Run'a Entertainment's "Evangelion RT-01 apr Corolla" team in the Super GT300-class grand touring championship series on Saturday.
Not only was the team's Toyota Corolla Axio painted in homage to the anime's Evangelion EVA-01 unit, but the uniforms of drivers Koki Saga and Kosuke Matsuura were patterned after the plug suit of the anime's main character Shinji Ikari. (Similarly, the "race queen" models Noa Mizutani and Yuuna Chiba wore outfits loosely inspired by the characters Rei and Asuka.)
Run'a Entertainment had previously fielded a Lightning McQueen apr MR-S car (inspired by Pixar's Cars film) and a Toy Story Racing apr MR-S car. For the Toy Story team, the drivers wore Buzz Lightyear uniforms, and the race queens wore outfits loosely inspired by the Toy Story characters Woody, Buzz, and Jessie.
The Evangelion RT-01 apr Corolla team is currently #14 after the first qualifying run of the Fuji Speedway round, trailing the Mach Go Go Go Shaken 408R team (#11) and the Hatsune Miku X GSR Porsche team (#12).

Update: The Evangelion RT-01 apr Corolla team finished the Fuji Speedway round in 9th place, followed by the Hatsune Miku X GSR Porsche team (14th) and the Mach Go Go Go Shaken 408R team (18th). Another Corolla Axio apr GT team won the race.
