New U.S. Comic Magazine F*X*T Planned for January

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

About.com reports that a new quarterly comic magazine, one that will showcase comic artists, is slated to premiere in the United States in January of 2011. Fawn Lau, a graphics designer who has worked on the American releases of manga titles such as Fruits Basket, Chobits, and Natsume's Book of Friends, is overseeing the creation of the magazine. Aoki posted an interview with Lau and some of the artists whose works will be featured in the magazine. Lau said that the magazine will feature serialized stories, one-shots, illustrations, and articles.

Lau has used the Kickstarter website to raise the US$10,500 needed for the project to move forward.

Published artists such as Christy Lijewski (RE:Play) are contributing their works to the project.

Errata: This article previously stated that F*X*T would "showcase comic artists influenced by Japanese and European comic art." Lau has informed ANN that this is not an accurate portrayal of the magazine's goals. "F*X*T is open to all creators," explained Lau. "Their style influence has no 'influence' on our decision to publish. They just need an interesting story and enthusiasm."
