Megane na Kanojo Romantic Comedy Manga Gets Anime

posted on by Egan Loo
Tobi's stories about girls with glasses gets 4-episode OVA from AIC in November

The September issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine is announcing on Tuesday that an original video anime adaptation of Tobi's Megane na Kanojo romantic comedy manga has been green-lit. The original manga was an omnibus-style collection of eight stories about girls with glasses — including a sempai, a tsundere (aloof and abrasive, but secretly affectionate), an airhead, an oneesan (older sister type), an elementary schoolgirl, and an idol. In particular, the anime's stories will include the literature club sempai and the popular idol from the first two installments of the manga.

Kōji Itō (Geisters - Fractions of the Earth episode director, s-CRY-ed mechanical animation director) is both writing and directing the four-episode video series for the anime studio AIC Takarazuka. Yukiko Ishibashi (Genshiken 2 animation director) is designing the characters and overseeing the animation production. The original manga ran in Yahoo! Comics' online Flex Comix Blood anthology from 2007 to 2008, and one print volume was compiled and published. The anime is scheduled to launch in November.
