Mazinkaiser SKL, IS, Kuttsukiboshi Promos Streamed

MazinKaiser OVA to be previewed in November; Kuttsukiboshi launches this month

The official website for the Mazinkaizer SKL anime has begun streaming its second 30-second promotional video on Sunday. The new project is billed as the return of the MazinKaiser anime franchise, which is itself a spinoff from Gō Nagai's classic super robot manga and anime series, Mazinger Z. Director Jun Kawagoe (New Getter Robo) and designers Takeshi Itou (Cybuster), Hiroshi Ogawa (Great Dangaioh), and Munetaka Abe (Kotetsushin Jeeg animation director) are working on the new anime at the studio Actas. Kazuya Hoshi is serializing a Mazinkaizer SKL Versus manga on the Shū 2 Comic Gekkin site from Bandai Visual's Emotion video production subsidiary. The three-episode video anime series will be previewed at Bandai Visual's Anime Fes "VS" event starting on November 27.

The Japanese television station TBS has launched the official homepage for the IS (Infinite Stratos) television anime series with the first promotional video in two versions: a 59-second short version and a 92-second long version. The anime adapts Izuru Yumizuru's "popular high-speed school battle romantic comedy" light novel series. The story centers around the IS Academy: a school for training the pilots of the Infinite Stratos weapon system, which can only be used by females. Candidates plucked from girls from countries all over the world are brought here — as well as one boy named Ichika Orimura. As it turns out, Ichika is "the only male in the world who can use the IS." His classmates include Hōki Shinonono, a childhood friend.

Primastea, the independent company behind the Isshoni Training: Training with Hinako exercise anime and the Isshoni Sleeping: Sleeping with Hinako anime, is streaming the second 53-second trailer for the Kuttsukiboshi anime on the YouTube and Nico Nico Douga websites. Freelance animator Naoya Ishikawa (Docchimo Maid, Binchō-tan) directed, wrote, and animated the project entirely himself. The anime centers around two girls' "risky" summer vacation together. Before Part I's official August 16 release, Primastea will offer the DVD early at its Comic Market 78 booth at Tokyo Big Sight from August 13 to August 15. Part II will be released next summer.
