Also shipping with English subs next January: 2nd Ghost Sweeper Mikami DVD set

The North American anime distributor Section23 Films has announced on Thursday that it will release the anime titles Koihime†Musō, 11eyes, and Kämpfer in complete DVD collections with English subtitles next January. The second DVD collection for Ghost Sweeper Mikami will also ship on January 25, 2011. All of the titles were licensed through Sentai Filmworks.

The 2008 Koihime†Musō anime adapts BaseSon's Koihime†Musō: Doki—Otome Darake no Sangokushi ENGI adult adventure game for personal computers. The franchise re-imagines the classic Chinese historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms (Sangokushi) as a "moe (fiery), moe (preciously cute) action comedy" with an almost all-female cast. The same Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel also inspired KOEI's game franchise of the same name, KOEI's Dynasty Warriors (Shin Sangoku Musō) spinoffs, and dozens of anime and manga of varying historical accuracy.

The Koihime†Musō DVD collection will ship on January 4. Crunchyroll streamed the television anime outside Japan in 2009. There have since been two television anime series based on the BaseSon's Shin Koihime†Musō: Otome Ryōran Sangokushi Engi adult adventure game for personal computers. Both Koihime†Musō and Shin Koihime Musō inspired video spinoff episodes. (Section23 Film's DVD collection contains just the 13 episodes of Koihime†Musō.)

Director Masami Shimoda and the anime studio Dogakobo based their 2009 11eyes television series on the 11eyes-Tsumi to Batsu to Aganai no Shōjo- fantasy adult computer game from Lass. The original game centered on Kakeru Satsuki, a boy who has been mourning the loss of his last remaining family member, his older sister, for the past five years. Satsuki, his childhood friend Yuka Minase, and four other humans are suddenly transported to the world of "Red Night," where a giant black moon hangs over the skies. The six can only return home after dealing with Ralva and the six Black Knights of this alternate world.

The 11eyes DVD collection will ship with 12 episodes on January 11. Crunchyroll simulcasted the television anime outside Japan in 2009. The television anime has sinceinspired an original video anime project that shipped this past June.

Director Yasuhiro Kuroda and the anime studio Nomad animated Toshihiko Tsukiji's Kämpfer light novel series for television last year. The story centers on Natsuru Senō, an ordinary high school boy who suddenly wakes up one morning as a girl. Natsuru discovers that has he/she has been chosen to participate in Kämpfer battles with other girls. Tsukiji also created the Maburaho light novels and the Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~ pachinko games, and both franchises have been adapted into television anime series.

Section23 will ship the complete Kämpfer anime in one DVD collection on January 18.

Update: More background information added.

Update 2: Section23 Films told ANN that the Koihime†Musō and 11eyes sets "will have the additional OVA" projects.
