Hiroki Hasegawa stars in Kenzi Taketomi's story about middle-school teacher

A live-action television series adaptation of Kenzi Taketomi's Suzuki Sensei manga has been green-lit for an April premiere on TV Tokyo. Hiroki Hasegawa (Second Virgin) plays the title role of an ordinary middle school teacher who struggles to deal with his students' issues.

The manga launched in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine in 2005, and it just ended on January 6. A side story will appear in the same magazine this spring, and the 11th and final compiled book volume will ship on April 28. The manga won an Excellence Prize in the 11th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards in 2007.

The television series will run on Mondays at 10:00 p.m.
