Asukō March! High School Manga Gets Live-Action Show

Emi Takei stars in Kaori Akiyama's story about lone girl in technical school class

Starting this April, 17-year-old fashion model and actress Emi Takei will star in a live-action television adaptation of Kaori Akiyama's Asukō March! -Kenritsu Asuka Kōgyō Kōkō Kōshinkyoku- manga for women.

In her first starring role in a live-action television series, Takei will play Nao Yoshino, a girl who fails the entrance exam for the all-girls school of her choice and must enroll in a technical high school. Kenritsu Asuka Kōgyō Kōkō — Asukō for short — is known for the smell of iron and oil that permeates the vocational school. It has only three girls among its 148 incoming freshmen, and Nao is the only girl in her class.

The original manga has been running in Shueisha's josei magazine You since last year, and the first compiled book volume shipped in September.

The tentatively titled Asukō March! television series will air on Sundays at 11:00 p.m. on the TV Asahi network.
