Sofuteni, A Channel, Norageki Promos Streamed

posted on by Egan Loo
Sofuteni, A-Channel to premiere in April; Norageki! DVD/BD slated for next week

The official website for the Sofuteni anime has been revamped with an 86-second promotional video on Tuesday. Ryō Azuchi's tennis comedy manga centers around the members of a female middle school soft tennis team and the twists and turns that their lives take as they aim for the nationals. Ryouki Kamitsubo is directing the anime at Xebec, and Kanae Itō and Eri Kitamura lead the cast. The series will premiere in Japan on April.

Earlier this week, the official MBS website for the television anime adaptation of bb Kuroda's A-Channel four-panel manga began streaming three new 15-second promotional videos in a row. The story revolves around the everyday life of four high school girls: the flighty Run (Kaori Fukuhara), the reckless Tōru (Aoi Yūki), the timid Yūko (Minako Kotobuki), and the level-headed Nagi (Yumi Uchiyama). Manabu Ono is directing at Studio Gokumi, and the anime will premiere this April.

The Japanese production company Bandai Visual also began streaming the second 70-second promotional video and a 15-second commercial for its original video anime (OVA) short project Norageki! on Tuesday. The story is set in a certain isolated prison with four prisoners and a cat. One day, a sudden power outage opens the locks and everyone is mysteriously set free from their cells. However, all of the guards are missing, and the prisoners cannot find any exits.

Hiroaki Ando (Digital Juice, Steamboy & Tekkonkinkreet CGI director) is directing the animators at Sunrise with writer Dai Sato (Freedom, Eureka Seven). Masaru Gotsubo (Shounen Tantei Inugami Geru, Samurai Champloo manga) and Kimitoshi Yamane (Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop) are responsible for the character and mechanic designs, respectively. The cast includes Miyu Irino (Kōseinen, "Good Young Man"), Takako Honda (Ii Onna, "Good Woman"), Kazuma Mori (Chūnen Otoko, "Middle-Aged Man"), Meg (Ota-Onna, "Female Otaku"), and Seizo Katou (Rōjin, "Old Man"). Meg is also singing the theme song. Barring delays, the anime will ship on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on March 25.
