Sentai Filmworks Adds Senkō no Night Raid Spy Anime

The North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced at its Anime Boston panel on Saturday that it acquired the Senkō no Night Raid (Night Raid 1931) television anime series for release on DVD and Blu-ray Disc this August.
The story of the anime is set in 1931 in Shanghai, when the Imperial Japanese Army has been dispatched to mainland China due to the relatively recent First Sino-Japanese War, Russo-Japanese War, and World War I. In this cosmopolitan city of intrigue, there is a special military spy organization called "Sakurai Kikan" that has since been buried in history.
Jun Matsumoto (Persona -trinity soul-) directed the animators at A-1 Pictures on this second work in TV Tokyo and Aniplex's Anime no Chikara initiative. The anime premiered in Japan last April.
