AX to Host Singer Maon Kurosaki, Orange Road's Matsumoto

Also at July 1-4 event in L.A.: Megatokyo comic creator Fred Gallagher

Anime Expo (AX) announced on Thursday that it will host Highschool of the Dead and Toaru Majutsu no Index II singer Maon Kurosaki, Kimagure Orange Road manga creator Izumi Matsumoto, and Megatokyo comic creator Fred Gallagher during its July 1-4 event in Los Angeles.

Kurosaki recently rose to fame after performing in Tokyo's Akihabara otaku shopping district. Her performance of "Magic World," the ending theme for Toaru Majutsu no Index II, debuted in the top 20 of Oricon's weekly singles charts. Kurosaki will perform her American debut concert on July 3 at the Club Nokia stage. She will also be available for a meet-and-greet/autograph signing and a focus panel at AX.

Matsumoto's Kimagure Orange Road romantic comedy manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1984 to 1987, and it inspired a television anime series, multiple original video anime volumes, and two movies. The story focuses on a love triangle between the protagonist Kyōsuke and his two friends Madoka and Hikaru.

Megatokyo has been running since 2000. The comic has been released in six graphic novels by Dark Horse Comics. The main characters, Largo and Piro, regularly parody anime tropes while trying to return to the United States from Japan.

Anime Expo's other guests include Hatsune Miku and Idea Factory founder Katsuyuki Hirano.

Update: Megatokyo's launch date corrected. Thanks, b4k4ni04.
