1st volume of Arakawa's new weekly manga ranks #4 on Oricon's chart

The weekly Oricon book rankings revealed on Thursday that the first volume of Hiromu Arakawa's (Fullmetal Alchemist, Hero Tales) new manga Silver Spoon (Gin no Saji) sold 90,257 copies in three days, ranking at #4 on Oricon's comic list for the week of July 11-17. The first volume of Silver Spoon was released on July 15 in Japan.

Arakawa launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in April. The story of Silver Spoon is set in an agricultural high school in the northernmost Japanese prefecture of Hokkaido. Silver Spoon is Arakawa's first weekly manga series.

The seventh volume of Kanae Hazuki's Suki-tte Ii na yo. shōjo manga ranked at #1 on the list, selling 139,990 copies.

Arakawa ended her Fullmetal Alchemist manga in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in June 2010, although she did draw a side story in September, and Monthly Shonen Gangan published Fullmetal Alchemist's "Prototype" manga as a one-shot in June.
