Medaka Box School Comedy TV Anime Made by Gainax (Updated)

posted on by Egan Loo
He Is My Master's Shouji Saeki to direct & edit scripts; NisiOisin to write novel

This year's 50th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that the studio Gainax is producing the television anime adaptation of NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki's Medaka Box school action comedy manga. Shouji Saeki (Mahoromatic: Summer Special, This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, He Is My Master, Mahoromatic: Tadaima Okaeri, Hōkago no Pleiades) is directing and editing the series scripts, and Ikuo Kuwana (Street Fighter Alpha: Generations) is designing the characters.

Weekly Shonen Jump is also announcing that story creator NisiOisin is writing a Medaka Box novel. NisiOisin and Akatsuki launched the original manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2009, and Shueisha published the 12th compiled book volume last month.

In the story, Medaka Kurokami, the strongest girl in Hanokiwa Academy, leads the school's student council. The student body can submit pleas for help, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, into the suggestion box that Medaka installed. Together with council members Zenkichi, Akune, and Kikaijima, Medaka takes on the challenges in the school that range from mundane tasks to supernatural battles.
