Manga creator to attend February 17-19 event

The Katsucon convention will host Izumi Matsumoto, creator of the Kimagure Orange Road manga and anime, during its February 17-19 event in National Harbor, Maryland. Katsucon is currently accepting questions via e-mail for Matsumoto to answer during his Q&A panel. The convention will also be selling 40 copies of Matsumoto's art books during the event.

Matsumoto's Kimagure Orange Road romantic comedy manga ran in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1984 to 1987, and it inspired a television anime series, multiple original video anime volumes, and two movies. The story focuses on a love triangle between the protagonist Kyōsuke and his two friends Madoka and Hikaru. Matsumoto attended Anime Expo in 1994 and 2011.

Katsucon's other guests include Usagi Yojimbo creator Stan Sakai; animator and artist Jan Scott-Frazier; voice actors Chris Ayres, Greg Ayres, Christopher Bevins, Richard Epcar, Josh Grelle, Kyle Hebert, Ellyn Stern, and J. Michael Tatum; and the Japanese band Kazha and singer/songwriter Kiryu. Katsucon will also host the U.S. preliminary rounds of the World Cosplay Summit.
