2ch Forum Warns 5 Sites Against Reposting Threads

The Japanese 2channel (2ch) message board posted a warning on Monday that prohibits five specific websites from using copyrighted material from the website. 2ch cited past usage of such material in a way that "caused trouble to third parties" for which no apology was issued.
The five sites currently listed on the warning are Yaraon!, Hachima Kikō, My Game News Flash, Hamster Sokuhō, and Nyū-soku VIP Blog. All five sites primarily aggregated and summarized threads on the message board that are deemed interesting or newsworthy. All five sites named have made statements containing apologies and have since ceased to quote posts and responses from the message board. However, all five continue to operate as blogs.
The warning was posted shortly after an individual marked as a 2ch moderator or administrator received input from a board thread critical of aggregation websites, including those affected by the warning. In the thread, posters cited to the individual cases including the disproven report of Gengoroh Tagame's Shirogane no Hana manga receiving an anime adaptation based on a fabricated image posted to the website, as well as a fictional quote disparaging webcomic artists that one of the sites falsely attributed to an editor from the Shonen Sunday magazine. With the exception of one Japanese character, the quote was identical to a similarly false quote used in the title of the 2ch thread aggregated and posted on the warned blog.
While 2channel was founded and formerly administrated by Hiroyuki Nishimura, the identity of the site's administrator has been vague since its transfer to the Singaporean company Packet Monster Inc., which the Yomiuri Shimbun paper reported as a shell company. Nishimura is now a Director at Niwango, the company responsible for operating the video streaming service niconico (formerly Nico Nico Douga).
