Producer to Fans: No Need to Wave Cash for More Darkstalkers/Vampire

CAPCOM video game producer Yoshinori Ono hinted at further developments in the Darkstalkers franchise at a CAPCOM panel at San Diego Comic-Con last Thursday. At 2010's panel, Ono joked for fans to wave cash in the air if they'd like to see more Darkstalkers. However, this year, Ono stated that the fans “don't need to do that now” — adding that this isn't necessarily bad news.
CAPCOM filed to renew their Darkstalkers trademark in the European Union in February.
The Darkstalkers franchise (known in Japan and the rest of Asia as "Vampire") is a series of gothic-themed fighting video games that first debuted in arcades in 1994. The last release of the game, Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection, was released for PlayStation 2 in Japan in 2005. A four-episode original video anime series, Nightwarriors - Darkstalkers' Revenge, was produced in 1997 and released in North America by Viz Media. A manga adaptation was published by Viz the same year. Udon Comics published another manga adaptation in 2010. The franchise has also inspired an American cartoon series and a comic book adaptation.
