Media Blasters Licenses Aki Sora: Yume no Naka Anime

Masahiro Itosugi's "line-crossing" story about boy's relationship with older sister

North American anime distributor Media Blasters announced on Tuesday that it acquired the original video anime project Aki Sora: Yume no Naka. Media Blasters plans to put the anime under its Kitty Media label, with more release details to be decided later.

Aki Sora: Yume no Naka is the second video anime adaptation of Masahiro Itosugi's six-volume "line-crossing" manga Aki Sora. Both the manga and the two anime projects follow the taboo relationship between a high school boy named Sora Aoi and his smart, athletic, "perfect" older sister Aki.

Aki Sora: Yume no Naka features most of the same main staff as the first Aki Sora anime: director Takeo Takahashi, scriptwriter Jukki Hanada, character designer/chief animation director Kazuya Kuroda, and the anime studio Hoods Entertainment. Pony Canyon released two Aki Sora: Yume no Naka volumes in Japan in 2010.

Neither the manga nor the two anime projects were released in Japan as adults-only. However, after Tokyo amended its laws to restrict works that are "excessively disrupting of social order" as "harmful publications" last year, Itosugi announced that two of her manga volume will no longer be reprinted.

Update: More background information added and number of manga volumes corrected. Thanks, Ichigo069.
