Animated Film Adaptation of Hiroyuki Ohashi's "Ongaku" Manga Announced

Kenji Iwaisawa to direct adaptation of 2005 self-published manga title

It was announced on Saturday that Hiroyuki Ohashi's manga title "ON-GAKU" will be receiving an animated film adaptation directed by Kenji Iwaisawa. "ON-GAKU" was originally self-published in 2005, and tells the story of young delinquents who decide to start a rock band despite never having touched instruments before. It was later published by Ohta Publishing in their 2009 ON-GAKU to Manga collection of Ohashi's work.

Ohashi will be responsible for the work's character designs and for overall supervision. Iwaisawa is previously known for his animated shorts such as "Fukurai-cho, Tunnel Roji no Otoko" (below) and "Big Boss." While details regarding its release date have yet to be made public, the film's creators have stated that they plan to inform the public about many aspects of the film's creation that are normally kept private, such as the overall process behind its creation and how money was raised to fund the film.
