Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal II to Debut on October 7 in New Timeslot

Yūma & Astral's new battles begin at 5:30 p.m. on Sundays in sequel show

The ongoing Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal television anime series will make way for Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal II, its sequel which will premiere in a new timeslot starting on October 7. The first Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal series has been running at 7:30 p.m. on Mondays on TV Tokyo and five other stations. Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal II will run in the 5:30 p.m. timeslot on Sundays. Yūma Tsukumo will still be the protagonist in the second series as he takes on new battles.

As the curtain closes on the World Duel Carnival in the first series, the new story begins in the now peaceful Heartland City. However, the envoys of Valian (Barian in the English dub), a world hostile to the Astral World, have one more proverbial card up their sleeves. To face this threat, Yūma, Astral, Kaito (Kite), and Ryōga (Reginald) put aside their rivalries to join forces.

The first Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal anime series premiered in Japan in April of 2011 and 4Kids Entertainment premiered it in the United States later that year in October. Konami is collaborating with Saban on the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise in North America after the two companies bought most of 4Kids' assets.

The anime studio Sunrise had already revealed last month that its Aikatsu! idol card anime will take over Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal's old Monday timeslot, starting on October 8.
