New People Cinema to screen film twice on September 29; Viz hosts cosplay contest

Viz Media announced on Wednesday that it will host the North American premiere of the Gekijō-ban Tiger & Bunny -The Beginning- anime film at the New People Cinema in San Francisco on September 29, one week after the film opens in Japan. The film will screen twice at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in Japanese with English subtitles.

Advanced tickets for the film will cost US$10. Those who purchase advanced tickets will receive a limited-edition Wild Tiger card at the screening.

Viz Media is also hosting an online Tiger & Bunny cosplay contest between September 10-28 to commemorate the premiere. Viz will also host an on-site cosplay contest on the day of the premiere, which it will stream live online. More details can be found on the series' Facebook page.

This is the first of two anime films based on Sunrise's Tiger & Bunny television anime series. It will focus on the story from the first television episodes, with new anime shots added.

Viz Media originally simulcast the television series and it will release it on home video in 2013. The English dub of the series will also premiere on Viz Media's Neon Alley service on the PlayStation 3.
