D.Gray-man's Katsura Hoshino designs characters for TV series premiering in April

The official website for Sunrise's Valvrave the Liberator (Kakumeiki Valvrave) television anime series began streaming the anime's second television commercial on Friday. The new commercial reveals the show's main staff.

Mainichi Shimbun's Mantan Web site revealed some of the story details for the anime on Friday. The story is set in an era when 70% of the human race lives in space due to the development of space cities. Between two major powers — the Dorushia Military Pact Federation and the Atlantic Ring United States (ARUS) — there is a small neutral nation called Jiōru that has prospered economically. The protagonist Haruto Tokishima, a high school student who lives in Jiōru, encounters the mysterious humanoid weapon "Valvrave" when the Dorushia army invades.

The anime will premiere next April on MBS' "Animeism" late-night programming block. The show's website also revealed a new key visual image on Friday.

Kou Matsuo (Kure-nai, Natsuyuki Rendezvous, Rozen Maiden) is directing the series at Sunrise. Ichiro Okouchi (Code Geass, Negima!, Guilty Crown) is handling the series composition. Manga creator Katsura Hoshino (D.Gray-man) is handling the original character designs for the series, and Tatsuya Suzuki (Mobile Suit Gundam Battlefield Record: Avant-Title) is adapting Hoshino's designs for animation. Makoto Ishiwata (Robotics;Notes, Blassreiter), Naohiro Washio (Bodacious Space Pirates, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Fafner), and Kunio Okawara (Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, Armored Trooper Votoms, Yatterman) are handling mechanical design.

Update: Staff information added.
