Creator Kazuma Kamachi conceives new story for film opening February 23

The official website for A Certain Magical Index (Toaru Majutsu no Index) franchise began streaming the full trailer and two television commercials for the Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki (A Certain Magical Index: The Miracle of Endymion) film on Thursday. This full trailer is different from the promotional videos that debuted last August and October.

All three of the new videos feature the image song "Shining Star -Love Letter" by Yuka Iguchi, the voice of the title character Index. The third batch of advance tickets are now on sale with limited-edition A3-sized clear posters with replica autographs of the main cast.

The full trailer outlines the movie's all-new story, in which the main characters Touma Kamijo and Index encounter a level 0 girl named Arisa just before the completion of the Academy City space elevator "Endymion." The Magicians are after Arisa, and they attack Academy City. A female leader named Shattoaura leads a unit from Academy City against the attack. Touma and Index learn from Stiyl that Arisa is key to a brewing war between the sides of Magic and Science.

Hiroshi Nishikiori (Magic Tree House, Azumanga Daioh, Angelic Layer) returns to direct the film at the studio J.C. Staff (with CG produced by Sanzigen). Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross Frontier, Accel World, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) scripted the film based on the original novels' author Kazuma Kamachi's new story. Maiko Iuchi (Waiting in the Summer, Dog Days) also returns to compose the soundtrack.

Novel illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura drew several new characters for the film. Kamachi also wrote several dozen pages that flesh out new details of Academy City and the Magic side, sample text for characters and scenes, and story details just for the film.

The film will open in Japan on February 23.
