Tokyo Yamimushi Crime Manga Gets Live-Action Film

Yuuki Honda's manga about young man deep in debt gets sequel series starting on Friday

A live-action film adaptation Yuuki Honda's Tokyo Yamimushi seinen manga has been green-lit. More details about the film will be announced in this year's sixth issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine on March 8.

The series centers on Ryō Katō, a 23-year-old man who lives alone with no job, no hopes, and no savings. Ryō has wracked up 2.85 million yen (about US$30,600) in debt, and one day he is kidnapped by debt collectors. The debt collector Asamura then tells Ryō that his life is "similar to a bug's" and offers him a shady-sounding "job" that will introduce him to money.

Honda launched the series in Young Animal in 2010 as his debut serialized work. Hakusensha will publish the sixth volume on February 28, and the seventh and final volume on March 29.

Honda is launching a sequel series titled Tokyo Yamimushi -2nd Scenario- Pandora in the fifth issue of Young Animal on Friday.
