Ark IX Anime by Sword of the Dark Ones' Yasui Previewed in 2nd Video

Yūki Ono voices detective uncovering world conspiracy in Hoods Entertainment anime

The official YouTube channel for the flying Dog Production company began streaming the second promotional video for Ark IX, the new action novel series and anime by Sword of the Dark Ones (Ragnarok) author Kentaro Yasui on Saturday. The videos features the theme song "Nevereverland" by Nano.

The series is set 150 years after humanity lost half of the planet due to a mysterious "black fog." To contain the "black fog," 3,000-meter-tall (about 10,000-feet-tall) walls were erected to split the world, and the half of the human population that survived now live in cities called "arks."

Enishi Shidō (voiced by Yūki Ono) is one of the few Japanese survivors and a practioner of the Shidō style of Ninjutsu. He runs a detective agency on the ninth ark with his partner Rebecca Ross (Hisako Kanemoto). While pursuing a male suspect in a burglary, Shidō learns of a massive conspiracy, one that may be tied to the Rivigarudo syndrome that is mutating its victims into something inhuman.

Kodansha released the first Ark IX novel volume, Shi no Tenshi (Angel of Death), on February 1. Kodansha's light novel division will release the second volume on July 2 in a limited-edition bundle with an original anime Blu-ray Disc. The bundle will have postcards illustrated by pako, TASA, and Yūya Kusaka.

Shin Itagaki (Ben-To, Teekyū) is directing the anime at Hoods Entertainment (Mysterious Girlfriend X, Manyū Hiken-chō), and Junichi Hayama (X-Men, Star Driver) is handling the character designs and supervising the animation process.

Ark IX is Kentaro's first published novel since 2006. Yasui's Ragnarok light novel series inspired Tsukasa Kotobuki's manga adaptation, which CMX Manga published in North America under the title Sword of the Dark Ones.
