73-episode series to get 3 English dub boxsets, 1 complete Japanese language boxset with subtitles

North American video distributor Discotek Media announced on Thursday that it will release the Monster Rancher television anime series. The company plans on releasing the series with an English dub in three boxsets starting in December, and will then release a boxset with all 73 episodes with a Japanese language track only and English subtitles in 2014.

TMS Entertainment produced the series, which aired in Japan in 1999-2001. The anime adapts Tecmo KOEI's simulation role playing game series. The series follows a video-game-loving boy named Genki who gets transported into the world of Monster Rancher and meets a girl named Holly. Together, Genki and Holly search for a way to revive the Phoenix, the only monster able to defeat the evil Moo.

The series aired in the U.S. on the Fox Network in 1999-2001. ADV Films previously released part of the series on VHS and DVD.

The series is currently streaming with an English dub on Hulu.
